Installation Instructions

If your system is maintained by ECN, use the 'Contact Us' webpage to request the Origin software to be installed on your system.

The following instructions are for 'self-supported' systems.

Download the latest Origin software from https://engineering.purdue.edu/PULS under Visualization software.

After downloading the software from PULS unzip the file and double click on the setup.exe file to start the installation.
After reading and accepting the License Agreement (if you still want to install it), Select the 'Install Product (requires serial number)' and click Next. Check/complete the User Name (enter your name) and Company Name (use 'Purdue University') fields and then copy/paste the appropriate Serial Number (see below) and click Next.
There are two different serial numbers for Purdue's Origin license:
1) For computers with persistent connections to the Purdue network,
such as desktop machines on the academic campus or in residence
hall rooms with Purdue network connections, use this number:

2) For all others, such as laptop computers on which you'll use
OriginPro while disconnected from the Purdue network or 'home'
computers without direct connections to the Purdue network, use:
GF3S4-6089-7602155
See 'Portable/Home computers' under 'License Configuration' to get a Product key.
Now choose 32 or 64bit depending on your computer (any recent/decent hardware would be 64-bit). Specify the destination directory and click Next. It will probably need to create the directory. Once done select features. The default should be fine. Select Next. Select/use 'All users' unless you have some reason not to. The default program folder path should be fine. Select Next and Next again to start the installation/copying of files. It can take a while to install everything. Once the setup is complete. Click on Finish.

License Configuration

The information requested on the License Information window depends on the serial number that you entered earlier:

Network/Campus license

Launch Origin. Select the 'User Files Folder' you want. The default is normally fine. Click OK when done. Use the following data to fill in the fields:
FLEXlm Server: marina.ecn.purdue.edu
TCP/IP Port: 1707
then click the Update button.
A window should appear asserting that 'License file successfully updated.' You're fine from here but if you want to be able to get updated files from Origin online you need to register with Origin. Close the 'Origin Central' window. Pull down the Help menu and click on the double arrow (pointing down) at the bottom of the menu. Select 'Register on-line...'. Follow the directions.

Portable/Home computers

Visit the Product Key Request page, select the 'Request' button, then email with a Product Key will be sent to you. Be sure to use your 'purdue.edu' email address when registering. Once you have the Product key, start OriginPro. enter the Product Key you received. then select 'OK' Finally, a window should appear asserting that the license file was successfully updated.

If you want to be able to get software updates, you need to register with Origin. Close the 'Origin Central' window. Pull down the Help menu and click on the double arrow (pointing down) at the bottom of the menu. Select 'Register on-line...' then follow the directions.
